TEDxSeeds 伝統芸「大樋焼」実演

Live performance of Japanese traditional art “OHI YAKI”

“Ohi potter” has history of 340 years which inherits great culture of Kaga. Ceramic Artist Ohi Toshio, valuing on the spirit of Way of tea, dedicates himself to carry on the traditional techniques to create warm and substantial potters. With the essence of Way of tea which is embodied in two words, “once-in-a lifetime” and “encounter”, he makes potters one by one from the heart in the same manner as preparing powdered green tea. He starts to gain the truth: “Every principle in the whole world is taught by these two words.” At this moment, thanking once-in-a-lifetime of today and hoping once-in-a-lifetime of tomorrow, he shows the world’s first live performance of making Ohi potter on Noh stage at TEDxSeeds.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
