米国での国際陶芸アカデミーの朝食会にも参加した。右から２人目はAAIC会長 Joe Bova氏。
シアトルデザインセンターでは、いくつもの陶芸展が開かれている。そしてシアトル市内全域に様々な展覧会も開かれている。
関係する大学同士の教授陣、学生が一同となって夕食会が開かれた
今、シアトルに来ている。27日に着いた。
1981年に大学を卒業した時、2008年に裏千家鵬雲斉大宗匠のお供で来た
時、そして今回で3度目のシアトル訪問となる。
この会議は1998年のロチェスターで開かれた会議にパネラーとして参加してから14年ぶりとなった。
メイン会場はシアトルコンベンションセンターで、全米だけでなく、ヨーロッパや中国を含めて6000人を超える参加者となった。
著名な陶芸家、美術館学芸員、ギャラリスト、全米の学生までもが集まることで様々な交流が図られている。
多くの大学とともに学生達が入学する相談の場も設けられており、私が客員教授を務めるロチェスター工科大学、
台湾国立台南藝術大学なども、ブースをだしている。
留学生や復学する学生も含めて、多種多様な人々が学べるのは、
このような環境にあることが大きな要因となっているのかもしれない。
米国で教育を受け、活度を続けてきたことが私の陶芸人生でもある。
米国には、伝統という概念が全く日本と相違する。人間国宝の制度もなければ、公募展なども存在しない。
無所属という概念も存在しない。
誰に出会い、誰に学び、どのように活動しているか？
日本には、独自に誇れることもある。また、学ばなければならないこともある。
閉塞状態にある日本の工芸を微力だが、志ある人と変えていきたい。
米国で恩師や旧友と会いながら、そのような気持になった。

It was held for International Academy of Ceramics Breakfast meeting. I am member also.
It was held many ceramics exhibition also in the down town areas
It was big dinner table, because all related institution faculty and students were gathered.
I come to Seattle now.
I arrived on 27th.
When I came in attendants of Urasenke Great Grand Tea Master Hounsai in 2008,
when I graduated from a university in 1981, and it is the third Seattle visit by this time.
In this meeting, it became 14 years since then since I participated in an open meeting as a panelist
in Rochester of 1998.
The main meeting place could include Europe and China as well as United States in Seattle
convention center, and it was the participant more than 6,000.
Because even a well-known ceramist, an art museum curator, a gallary,
U.S. students gather, various interchange is planned.
The place of the consultation that students enter with many universities is established,
and Rochester Institute of Technology,
the Taiwan national Tainan art art university where I act as a visiting professor,
As for what a foreign student and the student returning to school include it,
and can learn various people, such an environmental thing may become the big factor.
I receive education in U.S.A., and it is my ceramic art life to have continued katsudo.
In U.S.A., a concept called the tradition differs from Japan really.
If there is not the system of the living national treasure, the open call for participants exhibitions do not exist.
The concept called the independent does not exist, too.
I learn and whom am active to encounter, whom to how?
I can be proud to Japan originally.
In addition, we must may learn.
It is poor ability, but wants to change the Japanesecraft arts in the occlude state with a certain will person.
I became such a feeling while meeting a teacher and an old friend in U.S.A.
