私は、日本の金沢という歴史ある古都で360年近く続く大樋焼を継承する立場として生まれ育ちました。
そして今日まで、言葉で言い表せないほどの様々な葛藤があり、それと対峙しながら生きてきまた。
高校、大学時代は金沢を離れ東京で過ごし、その後はアメリカ現代アートの洗礼を受けながらボストンユニバシティ大学院を修了しました。
帰国後は、我が家の工房で制作を始めました。
また、今日まで世界各国に招かれ、そこに住む人々と触れ合いから多くを学んできました。
このような経験の積み重ねは、日本文化や伝統に独自の解釈を私にもたらせてくれています。

TOSHIO OHI CHOZAEMON XI

I was born and raised in the ancient and historic city of Kanazawa, Japan as the successor to Ohi ware, which has been around for nearly 360 years.
It is difficult to put into words the many challenges that I have faced during my lifetime.
After leaving Kanazawa to attend high school and college school in Tokyo, I went abroad to obtain a degree from the Boston University Graduate School, where I was exposed to American contemporary art.
After returning to Japan, I started creating in my Kanazawa studio.
I have been invited to many countries around the world and have learned a lot from my interactions with the people who live there.
The accumulation of these experiences has given me my own unique interpretation of Japanese culture and traditions.
