松中権氏による特別講演の後、馳浩石川県知事などと共にパナネルディスカッションに登壇させていただいた。
私の米国留学時代からの友人の多くは、LGBTQに属し私はそのことが当たり前であるかのように一緒に過ごしてきた。知り合った1980年代、マイノリティ的な差別はあったにしてもこんな言葉は存在していなかったような気がする。
私はLGBTQ＋というような表現よりも、本来ならば心の潜在的なものとして、無意識に一人ひとりの違いを認め合うことが大切な気がしている。
主催した金沢香林坊ロータリークラブのおかげで、多様性という意味を我々に深く考えさせてくれたのではないだろうか。
I was invited to participate in a panellist discussion with Governor Hase Hiroshi of Ishikawa Prefecture and others.
Many of my friends from my days studying in the U.S. belong to the LGBTQ community and I have spent time with them as if it were the norm.
In the 1980s, when I got to know them, I don’t think such a term existed, even if there was minority discrimination.
I feel that it is more important to recognize each person’s differences unconsciously, as something inherently latent in the mind, than to use a term like LGBTQ.
