55年前の大阪万博。
私はまだ小学校6年生の時で、世界に様々な国があることを知り、長蛇の列から月の石を見た鮮明な記憶がある。
今回も月の石もあるのだが、火星の石やｉＰＳ心臓など人類の最先端の更なる科学が加わっている。また、アメリカ館とフランス館の前の広場には長男の大きな金属作品も陳列されている。
私は長男夫婦、次男夫婦と2歳の初孫と共に訪れたのだが、55年前の私がまるでタイムマシンに乗ってやって来たような瞬間でもあった。
日本で次に万博が開催されるのが半世紀後とするならば、私はこの世に存在してはいない。だが、今生かされている我々には、明るい未来を次世代の人達のために引き継いでいく責任があるのではないだろうか。
The Osaka Expo 70 was 55 years ago.
I was still in the 6th grade of elementary school and have vivid memories of learning about the various countries in the world and seeing the moon rocks from a long line.
This time, the moon rocks are there again, but with the addition of further science on the cutting edge of humanity, such as Martian rocks and iPS hearts. Also on display in the plaza in front of the American and French pavilions are my oldest son’s large metal works.
I visited many pavilions with my eldest son and his wife, my second son and his wife, and my first grandchild, who was two years old.
If the next Expo is to be held in Japan half a century from now, I will not exist in this world. However, we who are alive today have a responsibility to pass on a bright future to the next generation.
