今日、十一代大樋長左衛門の名跡を襲名した
晴天の京都・裏千家今日庵へ父と紋付袴姿で訪問。
そして、十六代坐忘斎御家元御奉仕による、襲名の儀が執り行われた。
正に一世一代の日を迎えたのだった。
御祖堂にて千利休居士、裏千家歴代宗匠、坐忘斎御家元に口上挨拶。
父は米寿を迎え大樋陶冶斎として、これから作家活動に専念する。
父から私は家業を継承し、十一代大樋長左衛門の名跡を襲名報告。

坐忘斎御家元が、祝意に満ちた濃茶を我々に点てて下さる。
加賀藩五代藩主 前田綱紀候が、裏千家四代 仙叟宗室居士を金沢に招いた際、楽家四代 一入の高弟だった初代 長左衛門が同道した。
これが大樋焼の始まりで350年が経つ。
前田家、裏千家、楽家からの歴史的恩恵、元気な父が健在しながら襲名出来た事、全てに感謝しながら専心努力する。
坐忘斎御家元から賜った空間と時間。
代を譲った父の心境。
私は一生忘れない。
Today I succeeded to the name of OHI CHOZAEMON XI.
On a fine day in Kyoto my father and I went in formal kimono, haori and hakama for an audience with Zabosai Oiemoto,
the 16th generation Grand Master of the Urasenke Tradition.
Zabosai Oiemoto performed the official ceremony of the name succession.
This was a day that occurs only once in a lifetime.
In Urasenke’s Shrine of the Honorable Ancestor,
my father I exchanged formal greetings with Zabosai Oiemoto in front of the many generations of Urasenke
Grand Masters going back to Sen no Rikyu.
My father now in his 88th year will continue his artistic activities under the name of OHI TOYASAI.
I wish to formally announce that I have officially succeeded my father and will take on the name
of OHI CHOZAEMON XI.
At Urasenke in a tearoom, known as “Listening to the Breeze,” which was built most recently during
the Heisei period, we were honored to receive a bowl of thick tea made by Zabosai Oiemoto in celebration
of this important occasion.
In 1666 the fifth lord of the Maeda family,
Lord Maeda Tsunanori, invited to Kanazawa the fourth generation tea master of the Urasenke tradition,
Senso Soshitsu, to be an official magistrate of chado, or what is known as the tea ceremony.
Chozaemon, a close disciple of Ichinyu, the fourth generation head of the Raku family of potters,
accompanied the tea master Senso to Kanazawa and began to produce tea bowls. This is the beginning
of the Ohi-yaki tradition that now goes back 350 years.
I am forever indebted to the Maeda family, Urasenke and the Raku family.
My gratitude is immeasurable for being able to succeed the family name while my father is in fine health.
I will devote myself wholeheartedly to live up to the honor of this name.
