連休最中の5月2日、私も講義したこともあるワシントン&リー大学の学生達がジャネット イケダ教授の
引率のもとに同大を訪れた時があった。
その際に英語による交流茶会が催され、招かれた私は両校の学生に話もさせていただいた。
金沢で開催されている全国学生大茶会。
一昨日、学生達は我が家を訪れてくれた。
そして、国際基督教大学が席主となる茶会に参加させて頂いた。
聡明な彼らは語学を駆使して日本文化を会得しようとしている。
これからの日本は彼らのような若者を必要としているのではないだろうか。
On May 2, during the holidays, students from Washington and Lee University, where I have also lectured,
visited ICU under the leadership of Professor Janet Ikeda.
An exchange tea ceremony was held in English, and I was invited to speak to the students from both universities.
The National Student Tea Ceremony is being held in Kanazawa today.
The day before yesterday, the students visited my home.
I was able to attend the tea ceremony at which ICU was the master of ceremonies.
They are very bright and are trying to master Japanese culture by making full use of the language.
I believe that Japan needs young people like them in the future.
