戦国時代のキリシタン大名であった高山右近。2017年に「福者」となったのだが聖人にするための祈願茶会が名古屋で催された。そのために私も十字架を意匠とした茶盌を制作させて頂いた。
最近、私の脳裏に千利休、前田利家、そしてキリスタン大名だった高山右近と大友宗麟などが物語を創ろうとしている。その創造が作品を生むかもしれない。

Takayama Ukon was a Christian daimyo during the Warring States period. Although he was declared a “Blessed” in 2017, a tea ceremony was held to pray for his canonization as a saint. For this occasion, I had the honor of creating a tea bowl featuring a cross design.
Lately, figures such as Sen no Rikyū, Maeda Toshiie, and the Christian daimyōs Takayama Ukon and Ōtomo Sōrin have been trying to weave a narrative in my mind. That creative process may give rise to new works.
