米国コロラド州南西部に位置するするメサ・ヴェルデ国立公園はプエブロインディアンが残した断崖をくりぬいた一連の集落遺跡群で、その聖地には彼らの魂が潜んでいた。その魂と交信しながら、固まった土が侵食されゆく姿、柔らかな土に火がもたらす断裂などを応用し、彼らから伝授された色土で加彩しこの神秘を器とした。
11月13日は国立新美術館に在廊しております。
Work Commentary
Mesa Verde National Park, located in southwestern Colorado, USA, is a series of cliff dwellings carved into the cliffs by the Pueblo Indians. Their souls dwelled within these sacred sites. While communicating with those souls, I applied the eroding form of hardened earth and the fractures brought by fire to soft earth. Using the colored earth they imparted to me, I painted and transformed this mystery into vessels.
