“kenchashiki” (offering of tea is the highest form of offering tea to the Buddha) was held by Iemoto Zamozai (grand tea master) of Urasenke, and I was in charge of the tea ceremony.
I made a tea bowls using clay from the excavation of the Great Buddha Hall of Todaiji Temple as the “Jido”( The Soil of Compassion) hanging scroll, which was given to me by the Iemoto, and 627 guests from all over the country enjoyed the tea at the tea ceremony.
While expressing my gratitude as Ohi Chozaemon XI for the ties I have formed with the Urasenke family, I hope that everyone have gained an understanding of my life’s work as an artist, Buddhist monk, and tea master.
