1749年創立。初代大統領ジョージ・ワシントンと、南北戦争の南軍指揮官ロバート・リー将軍の名をとった歴史ある大学。
その将軍は初代学長に就き、現在はキャンパスの一角で永遠の眠りについている。
そしてこの大学に到着。
南部の雰囲気が漂う美しいキャンパスだ。
ジャネット池田教授の完璧なるもてなしで、大学側は手厚く私を迎えてくれた。
特筆したいこどがある。
1798年6月17日、初代アメリカ大統領ジョージワシントンがこの大学に宛てた書簡を手にすることが出来たことだ。
最も大切な秘宝での歓迎に、感動した。

The university where the history for which a name of USA the first President George Washington and
the south army commander Robert Lee general of the Civil War was taken is here.
The general became the first president and has got to eternal sleep by one corner in a campus at present.
And I arrive at this university. The beautiful campus where locates the atmosphere in the south.
The university side welcomed me with perfect hospitality of Prof. Janet Ikeda cordially.

President of the United States of America George Washington wrote a letter for this university on June 17, 1798.
I could hold in my hand.
I was impressed with a welcome by the most important treasure.
