私の母は、石川県かほく市宇ノ気町の出身で、盆や正月にはよく実家に連れて行かれた。
父親(私の祖父)は、その地での医者であり、また縄文時代の上山田貝塚などを発見した考古学者でもあった。
開業医として住んだからか、大きな家には広く長い廊下があり、たくさんの縄文の器などが陳列されていた。
また、そこから見える庭には、大きな五重塔や灯籠などがあった。
遠い昔に祖父母が亡くなり、その家や庭は取り壊されたのだが、その時にあった五重塔などが従兄弟の家に移され、
つい先般には私のものとなって、工房に移設されることになった。
50年前の記憶が蘇る。庭に向かっての縁側で、私を含めたたくさんの孫たちでスイカを食べた夏の日を。
そして、皆んなが元気だった。
今、祖父母、母の兄弟姉妹は皆んな他界してしまったが、従兄弟の絆は今も深く続いている。
My mother was from Unoke-machi, Kahoku City, Ishikawa Prefecture,
and was often taken to her parents’ house during Bon and New Year’s holidays.
Her father (my grandfather) was a doctor in the area,
but he was also a discoverer of Kamiyamada Kaizuka and was an archaeologist.
Perhaps it was the house where he lived as a medical practitioner,
the wide and long corridors were lined with many Jomon vessels.
In addition, in the garden that can be seen from there,
there were large five-storied pagodas and lanterns.
My grandparents died a long time ago, and their house and garden were demolished,
but the five-storied pagoda that existed at that time was moved to my cousin’s house,
and finally became mine, and it was to be moved to my studio.
The memories of 50 years ago,now truly revived.
My grandparents and my mother’s brothers and sisters have all passed away,
